8vo., maroon sewn wraps with integrated dustwrapper featuring a wooden door design to the upper cover and the onlaid label of a winking owl, lettered ‘Two Poems & a hidden thought’; two owls in gilt to the lower cover pictured reading one of CvS’s books; green card endpapers; pp. [viii] 8vo pages and two smaller; printed with calligraphic text in brown throughout as well as several illustrations in colour direct to page; fine, although a curious example, with the ‘hidden thought’ (contained beneath the dustwrapper) here appearing upside down. 

First, ‘standard’ edition in the maroon covers, printed in a run of 2000 copies. A signed limited edition was also produced in green card wraps. 

A short collection of two poems ‘Fortress on the Hill’ and ‘I Believe’, along with several literary tricks, including the subtitle printed backwards to the title page (mirror image) and the hidden poem, a riddle-like verse revealing the ‘who am I?’ at the end. 

Increasingly scarce, and here with unique traits.
