8vo., publisher’s black boards, lettered and lined in gilt to spine with publisher’s device to foot; pp. [ix], 6-187, [i]; boards with some mottling and light scratches, light pushing to head and foot; sometime slightly water damaged, with some warping to the pages; a couple of finger marks to front prelims; previous inscription erased from ffep, causing a little abrasion; very good. 

First UK edition. This copy doubly signed by Powell; once above his crossed-out name to the title page, and again to the ffep with the inscription “John from Tony [Li…?] 1971”. 

A signed edition of Powell’s two plays, the first concerning sexual tension and intrigue set against the backdrop of an archaeological dig in Greece, and the second a comedy referencing Hamlet's famous final words as he faces death: "the rest is silence."
