[AUTOGRAPH ALBUM] Victorian Autograph Album Containing Numerous Letters and Clipped Signatures
GEORGE CANNING, LORD PALMERSTON, ROBERT PEEL AND OTHERS
A late 19th century Victorian autograph album, red morocco double-ruled in gilt with ‘Autographs E. T.’ stamped to centre of front board; pale yellow endpapers; all edges gilt; containing over 100 pages of affixed autographs, manuscript notes, letters, death notices, clipped signatures and more; along with many other blank pages and notes loosely inserted; some pages fully or partially, excised, likely contemporaneously; binding worn and rubbed with spine now detached and lacking; hinges cracked but holding.
An intriguing collection of autographs dating to the late 19th century and featuring a host of various famous, important, and popular figures of the day, mostly from the world of Politics and Literature. I have been able to identify:
George Canning (autograph letter signed with his initials)
Lord Palmerston (signed envelope panel, Foreign Office, Downing Street, London)
Lord Melbourne (signed envelope panel)
Nona Bellairs
Vittorio Emanuele Taparelli d'Azeglio (second page only of an autograph letter)
Prince Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (envelope addressed in his hand)
